Romanian VoIP providers – Geotel – (III)

Geotel is another VoIP provider that gives you the possibility to take your own landline number with you where ever you go in the world. The company is based in Suceava (a city in the northern part of Romania).

Sound quality Ok
The prices Are a little high. They can charge you between 0.015 E – 0.025 E per minute on the land-line network. The list of all connection prices can be found here: http://www.geotel.eu/tarifeprepay.php
Are the phone calls in the provider’s network free? Yes!
Does it have a Voice mail? Yes! *
It is advertised but I did not see the option on the configuration platform
Does it have a cost control service? Yes!
Does it have a STUN service? Yes!
Can you buy the credit On-Line? Yes! (through various ways like:  PayPal and ePayment)

 

The good stuff:
One of the obvious parts when you first see their webpage is that you will get 25 minutes for free once you are registered for a limited period and unlimited phone calls in the Geotel network (see here http://www.geotel.eu/support/index.php?pid=knowledgebase&cmd=viewentclient&id=11). Eurovoice integrates the support for BLINK VoIP client

Today I’m going to describe my tests done on Eurovoice.

Eurovoice is a product of EuroWeb, a grand web provider in Romania. Their number assignment starts like this: 03xxxxxxxx. The Service has also a directory that is accessible to all users which is a nice thing if you wish to know if your friends are already registered.

Sound quality Ok.
The prices Are fair. It will cost you about 0,025 Euro/minute to make a phone call in the fixed line in Romania and on the mobile network – 0,089 Euro/minute. The official price list can be found http://www.eurovoice.ro/eurovoice_tarife.html
Are the phone calls in the provider’s network free? Yes!
Does it have a Voice mail? Yes!
Does it have a cost control service? Yes! (the best of all)
Does it have a STUN service? NO!

The first VoIP provider that I’m going to present is Smartcall. The choice was not made totally random as this provider was also the first that introduced me to the world of VoIP back in Romania.

Bellow is a small questionnaire with some basic things that I think each provider should have:

Sound quality Ok, I never had any problems with the connection.
The prices Are great, if you have your friends in Romtelecom. They will charge you between 0.01 E – 0.02 E in the Romtelecom network and with 0.025 E for other landlines. And also that they have a STUN server! Yes, believe it or not, this is not a common thing on the VoIP providers in Romania.
